We asked, and you answered! What are some things to do in Halifax and Dartmouth on rainy days? This list is an important one this spring. It's been raining quite a bit lately. That's ok though, because there is no shortage of activities to do indoors.

Dartmouth Heritage Museum: The Dartmouth Heritage Museum has much to offer. Quaker House opens on June 7th and Evergreen House is open year round. Visit our Facebook page and website for more information on upcoming events, exhibits and fundraisers!
Niveen Sidarous Tadros: I enjoy Pier 21 and the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, and, if it's open, the Farmer's Market next to Pier 21. Haven't done it but would like to...Tour of Alexander Keith's Brewery! But if I was staying at the Hampton and it was raining, I would choose to spend the whole day on your slide!
Tanya Penney: Museum of Natural History to visit Gus is one of our fav. Rainy day trips, also the BIO touch tank when it's opened-only summer and hours can change.....

Happy Saint Patrick's Day everyone! Where is your favorite place to celebrate in Halifax and Dartmouth? Here's a list of our favorite places to celebrate this popular day :)

Tonight's live entertainment is Tristan Legg, Cassie & Maggie, Caber Fey, Evans & Doherty, Dave MacIsaac & Louis Benoit, 1749, and Gig Dogs. You will see people lining up at 8 AM to be the first to arrive. By 6PM, it's jam packed.
Celtic Corner- another fabulous Irish Alehouse, Celtic Corner is probably the best place in Dartmouth to celebrate in style. They open at 8 AM today and music starts at 1 PM. Food and music is great and so is the atmosphere. Be sure to try the Steak and Guinness pie. It's delicious.
Durty Nelly's- named after one of Ireland's most famous landmarks, Durty Nelly's is a great place to visit in downtown Halifax. They serve delicious food and great beer. The Irish owner and his team made sure they created an authentic Irish pub and eatery so rest assured- you will be getting the authentic experience here. We heard through the grapevine that someone was served a beer at 8:11 AM. This will be another really busy spot today!
Pogue Fado- drive down Barrington Street and you will see the enormous line up that usually starts before noon. The Pogue is normally packed on any given night but St. Patty's Day it could take hours to get in. It's all part of the fun.....

It is no surprise the Canadians would help out another nation in a time of need but donations have been coming in from all sorts of channels for Japan. Facebook and Twitter support to the Red Cross have made a huge impact this week.
In an article by the Chronicle Herald today, Karen Snider, media manager for the humanitarian organization, said donations via text message received a major boost after the instructions were reposted by an army of supporters on Twitter. "This has been so exciting for us," she said in an interview on Sunday. "What's amazing is how passionate people in the online community are about world issues."

What are your favorite things to do in Dartmouth besides stay in our Dartmouth Hotel? There are lots- especially in Dartmouth Crossing. Here are just a few things to do. We'll continue to share more- this is just the beginning:
1. Shopping and dining in Dartmouth Crossing- our Dartmouth Hotel is located in the center of Dartmouth Crossing and believe us- there is lots to do! You can spend a day here shopping in the boutique stores, visiting the big box stores up the street, and dining at Dartmouth restaurants such as Moxie's, Opa, and Jack Astor's.
2. Visit Sullivan's Pond with the kids- it's only a few minutes away and there is a large walking path, ducks to feed, white geese to photograph, and a cute gazebo to have a picnic in.

It's the crème de la crème of culinary events for Nova Scotia. It's the much needed winter break for those who won't be heading down south to beat the winter blues. What is it? It's the 8th annual Savour Food and Wine show.
Each year, the Restaurant Association, together with Chefs and culinarians throughout the province, get together to showcase the best in Nova Scotia cuisine. Held once again at the Westin Nova Scotian Hotel in Halifax, there will be over 70 booths displaying both food and beverage.
Dishes this year will include pork belly, our world famous Digby Scallops, and unique wines from our many wineries throughout Nova Scotia. Check out Savour's website for photo galleries from previous years.
Welcome to our new blog!
We enjoyed connecting on Facebook so much that we decided to create a blog! If you haven't noticed, we also have a brand new website designed with you in mind :)
It will be focused on events at our Dartmouth hotel and in Dartmouth Crossing, special offers, and information on the local area. It will serve as a valuable resource for planning your trip to Dartmouth and staying connected with us. There will be exclusive deals for and fun contests so be sure to stay connected.
Stay tuned for our next post for information on things to do in Halifax and Dartmouth Crossing during the month of March. Please let us know if you have any feedback, ideas, or suggestions.
